Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, USA, in partnership with the Moshe Dayan Center and Tel Aviv University, announces a Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Israel Studies. The program seeks to advance the teaching of Israel Studies at Northwestern University and to provide opportunities for candidates to advance their scholarship. The appointment is for a two-year residency at Northwestern University during the academic years of 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. The Fellowship begins in the Fall quarter of September 2017.

The History of Israel
The Arab-Israeli Conflict
The Economy of Israel
Religion in Israel
Sociology and Anthropology of Israeli society
Contemporary Israeli Culture, Literature, Poetry, Art, Theatre, Music and Cinema
Eligibility
Applicants must have gained their Ph.D degrees no more than five years prior to the date of application. Applications from candidates presently holding ongoing faculty positions will not be accepted. Proficiency in English is essential, as is a demonstrable record of distinguished college- level teaching experience. Employment at Northwestern University is contingent on receipt of an appropriate US Visa. Responsibilities
Teaching one course per academic quarter (No teaching is required during the first quarter in residence). In total it is 5 quarters of teaching after 2 years.
Pursuit of independent scholarship (Fellows are free to follow their own research interests).
Presentation of research paper in departmental colloquia.
Participation in Israel-related academic activities at Northwestern and the Chicago area.

A sample of scholarly writing (can be a chapter of Ph.D dissertation).

An outline of two courses you would be interested in teaching at Northwestern University.
Two letters of recommendation, with at least one commenting on the candidate's teaching capabilities. Letters should be addressed directly to the Director of the Moshe Dayan Center at the below address.
