The Office of the President of the American University of Armenia (AUA) is organizing a lecture by  Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan. The lecture will take place on Friday, November 20 at 5 p.m. in AUA’s Manoogian Hall.

Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan is a graduate of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU). In 2005, he graduated from Moscow School of Political Studies (affiliated with the Council of Europe). He completed training courses at the Moscow State International University, Department of Management of Global Process, in 2007.

Minister Ashotyan served as both Assistant to and Advisor to the Rector of Yerevan State Medical University between 2002-2006.  He entered political life in 2005 when he became Deputy in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia until 2008. As Deputy, he was active in a number of parliamentarian committees, including the Standing Committee on Social, Healthcare, and Nature Protection, and the Standing Committee on European Integration. In 2008, he became Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport.

Minister Ashotyan was appointed Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia in 2009 and has remained in this position since.
