IET Diamond Jubilee Scholarships 2017
Approximately 60 scholarships will be available, of at least £1,000 per year, for up to three years for Bachelors and four years for MEng, to students who are about to start an IET accredited degree course in autumn 2017.
Winners will also receive free membership of the IET for the duration of their course, if not already received as an IET Academic Partner with their University. Scholarship winners are expected to be ambassadors for the IET and engineering.
Criteria for 2017 Scholarships
- To be eligible for a Diamond Jubilee Scholarship you will need to achieve
- 3 'A's at A Level
- 3 'A' grade Advanced Highers
- 5 'A' grade Highers
- International Baccalaureate Diploma at 36 points or above
- Diamond Jubilee Scholarships are for UK residents only.
- All applicants for IET Diamond Jubilee Scholarships must be about to commence studying in Autumn 2017, on an undergraduate degree programme in the UK which has been accredited by the IET. The IET accredits programmes across a diverse spectrum, including electrical, electronic, manufacturing, mechanical, systems and software engineering and specialist areas such as bioengineering, nanotechnology and renewable energy. Before making your application, check the list of CEng and IEng accredited programmes to make sure that your degree course in the UK is accredited by the IET.
The absence of IET accreditation could mean that the programme is accredited by another professional body, it is going through the re-accreditation process or the university has not asked the IET to accredit the programme.
If your degree course is not accredited by the IET, you will not be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
Donors
IET Diamond Jubilee scholarships are funded and assessed by the IET, charitable foundations and engineering companies. If you apply for a scholarship, you should provide a statement "Why you should receive a Diamond Scholarship". If you are awarded an IET Scholarship you will be expected to be an Ambassador for the IET and the engineering profession and to sign the Terms and Conditions. Also, you are advised to research the companies - currently BT andSiemens - and indicate if and why you would like to gain work experience with any of them. The other funders are BAE Systems, ERA Foundation, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851and Belling Charitable Settlement.
Please note: you cannot hold more than one company-sponsored scholarship. If you have a Diamond Jubilee Scholarship supported by BT or Siemens, you cannot hold another company-sponsored scholarship such as IET Power Academy, E3 Academy, UKESF, GCHQ and BP. How to Apply
- Complete the online application form. Applications must be received by the deadline. Changes to your application form can be made at any time up until the deadline.
- All applicants are advised to complete the application as much as possible by 30 June 2017. Candidates will then only have to add their UCAS results and examination results by 24 August 2017.
