ROSOVSKY FELLOWSHIP

Each year, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies offers fellowships to a limited number of Harvard undergraduates for wintersession (J-Term) or summer research and/or field work in Israel with the Henry Rosovsky fellowships. Awards are made to Harvard undergraduate students undertaking projects primarily related to their senior honors thesis. The amount of the award will be approximately $2,000-$3,000. Please apply through CARAT.

Students are required to submit a 750 word proposal, outlining the research question, research sites, and the resources to be used, as well as the relevant training of the applicant, including language skills, etc. The grant is available during winteression (J-Term) or Summer 2017 for travel in Israel/Palestine, and the award amount is typically $2,500. Eligible expenses include travel expenses with housing, airfare, tuition, insurance, and meals.  The grant is open to concentrators in any field and for students who are U.S. Citizens, U.S. Legal Permanent Residents, and International Students/Scholars

Upon the completion of the study sponsored by this grant, students are required to present a two- to five-page report on their study/research to the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, including an accounting of how the funds were spent.

The Rosovsky application for summer research is due March 7, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.

Application materials include a proposal of no more than 750 words outlining the project you hope to undertake and the rationale for pursuing it in your destination, current 1 page resume, current transcript, 2 letters of recommendation (uploaded on the CARAT application form)

    • NOTE: Due to recent elevated risk, Jerusalem and the West Bank are now on the high risk list for Harvard students, and undergraduate students are not allowed to travel to those areas. Please plan your projects accordingly. (9/23/16).
