Interested in the critical examination of past and present developments related to gender in culture and society? CEU’s Department of Gender Studies attracts students from a range of disciplines in the social sciences and humanities, and focuses on integrative and comparative approaches to gender. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary scholarship on gender and sexuality, particularly in areas such as nationalism, post/state socialism, queer theory, science studies, literature and popular culture, transnational connections, social movements, war and memory, and policy and global inequalities.

Scholarships

CEU is committed to attracting talented students and scholars from around the world. In 2014-2015, we provided generous funding to 80% of our master’s and 92% of our doctoral students, for which applicants from any country are eligible to apply.
