KTH Master's Challenge

For the fourth year, KTH Royal Institute of Technology returns to India offering a unique opportunity for Indian students to compete for a full tuition fee scholarship within one of three Master’s programmes: Electric Power Engineering, Engineering Design and Information and Network Engineering. KTH is one of the leading technical and engineering universities ranked amongst the top 40 universities in the field*.

*#36 within Engineering and Technology (ranking by Faculty) and #17 within Electrical and Electronic Engineering (ranking by Subject) according to QS.

Win a Scholarship to KTH

Indian students who are passionate about Electric Power Engineering, Engineering Design or Information and Network Engineering, academically-driven, and internationally-oriented are challenged to show their skills in a series of tests culminating in a case study. One winner from each of the programmes will be awarded the grand prize - a tuition fee waiver, worth approximately 2,300,000 INR*! Top 3 candidates per programme will receive certificates of achievement and an invitation to the Award Ceremony in Bangalore.

*The scholarship is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Finals Stage

On December 9, 2016 five finalists per each of the three programmes will be announced. All finalists will be invited for a Skype interview with a Programme Director from their chosen master’s programme at KTH. Based on the evaluations by Programme Directors, three winner nominees per programme will then be selected.

Screening Criteria

Contestants will be judged based on their quiz results, the case study, and their motivational statement, as well as educational background and prior academic performance. Winners will be selected from among those who are accepted to KTH.

The KTH Master’s Challenge seeks the brightest minds of India for the opportunity to pursue their master’s degree tuition-free at KTH, one of the world’s premier technical universities located in Stockholm, Sweden. KTH is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world* and has a tradition of research and innovation spanning centuries. Students at KTH are given the resources to not only grow academically, but to develop real world solutions in science and technology.

Prizes

Participants in the KTH Master’s Challenge have the chance to win a tuition fee waiver for a Master’s programme within Electric Power Engineering, Engineering Design, and Information and Network Engineering, worth approximately 2,300,000 INR. In addition to a tuition-free master’s programme and certificates, contestants can win KTH merchandise such as satchels and t-shirts.

Eligibility Criteria

Participants in the KTH Master’s Challenge must be residents of India and eligible to study at the master’s level at KTH. You can view the admissions requirements for each master’s programme at universityadmissions.se. Check Terms and Conditions for the competition's detailed eligibility criteria.

Timeline

November 21st, 2016

Deadline to complete and submit KTH Master’s Challenge quizzes, case study, and motivational statement.

Deadline to apply to the KTH master’s programme - upload all required documents through universityadmissions.se. Please note, that this deadline applies only to you as a competition participant, and does not reflect the general Swedish University Admissions deadlines. Be aware, that the area of engineering, which you choose to pursue through KTH Master’s Challenge, must be the same as the programme to which you will apply through universityadmissions.se. Also, you do NOT need to pay your application fee by November 21st:

  • If you are selected as one of the top three winner nominees per programme, competition organizers will arrange the payment of your application fee.
  • If you are not selected as a winner nominee, but wish to pursue your application to KTH, you will need to pay your application fee yourself by February 1, 2017.
