About the fellowship

Applications are hereby invited for the position of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor (tenure track) or permanent position of Professor in Pharmaceutical Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. For the tenure track assistant professorship, we seek a highly talented and already merited researcher at the beginning of his / her academic career. To be qualified for the full professor position, the applicant has to already be at a high international level. The research field of the position is pharmaceutical physics. Especially, we seek an individual with strong background in using mesoporous materials as drug delivery platforms and experience in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry.

The post is subject to a four month trial period.

The tenure track post will be filled first as fixed-term employment periods as assistant and associate professor or as fixed-term employment as associate professor. The aim of advancing on the tenure track is the qualification into tenure of a professorship, which requires success in evaluation. The tenure track system of the University of Turku is clarified in more detail at the end of the appointment specification.

The selected person will be working at the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Industrial Physics Laboratory. The Department of Physics and Astronomy has nine professors in addition to this. Altogether, there are about 100 people working in the department. The research focus areas are materials research, astronomy and space physics and theoretical quantum physics. Materials research concentrates on biomaterial and new materials for electronics.

The post includes research work, teaching – including supervising Master and PhD students – and other activities in the academic community. The professor/ assistant professor is expected to co-operate with other research groups, to form and lead his or her own research group and to obtain external research funding at both domestic and international level.

The salary for this particular post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel (YPJ). The salary shall be determined when drawing up the employment contract.
