Salary: £45,562 - £61,179 p.a. plus additional college pensionable benefits of up to £18,190, including a Housing Allowance (currently £13,500 p.a., provided the fellow does not occupy residential accommodation wholly provided by the college) and a Supplementary Duties allowance of £4,690. An allowance of £2,655 p.a. would be payable by the University upon award of full Professor title.
Start date: 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
St John’s College, Oxford, and the Faculty of English, University of Oxford, propose, if a suitable candidate applies, to appoint to an Official (Tutorial) Fellowship in English, in association with an Associate Professorship of English, with effect from 1 October 2017. This is a permanent position. Applications are invited from well-qualified candidates with expertise in English literature of the period 1550 - 1760, and particularly from those with a specialism in the earlier part of this period, up to 1640. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in advanced study and academic research, and to enthuse and inspire students at both undergraduate and graduate level through tutorials, classes, lectures, and supervision. Candidates will need to demonstrate evidence of an outstanding level of research and excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching; be able to participate effectively in the running and development of the subject at faculty level, and in college and faculty administration; and have participated in conferences, seminars, and other research meetings. Candidates must hold a doctorate in a relevant field.
