The 2017 H-WRBI Annual Conference will take place at University College Dublin, Ireland. Conference panels and papers will examine the history of women religious, medieval to modern. We welcome papers that engage with sources and comment on methodologies around the use of archival, oral, visual, material or digital sources. Papers might consider, for example, the history of women religious and:

  • Education
  • Healthcare and medical history
  • Visual culture
  • Politics and public life
  • Mission and missionaries
  • Archives and access: issues for researchers and/or archivists
  • Interpreting sources
  • The future for sources & records: considerations for religious orders
  • The material culture of religious life
  • Writing, painting, photography or composition
  • The financial management of convents and monasteries
  • Church hierarchy
  • Photographs and the visual historical record of women religious
  • Ephemera in convent collections
  • Oral histories of women religious
  • Digitisation and the future of sources
  • Publishing and the history of women religious

Non-presenting delegates are also welcome to register for the conference.
