Post-Soviet Central Asia is a strategically important part of Eurasia. Since the fall of the Soviet Union regional states have been advancing their national models. Most important international actors have been exhibiting steady interest in the region.

Metropolitan University Prague (MUP) is organising an interdisciplinary conference entitled “Post-Soviet Central Asia: 25 Years of Independence” that will be held on 21 October 2016 in Prague, Czech Republic at MUP Zizkov campus. The working language of the conference is English. The conference aims to bring wide range of audiences together for a discussion of latest Central Asian developments. 

The topics of the conference include but not limited to:

  • Challenges to Central Asian Security;
  • Identity and nationalism of Central Asian states;
  • Regional cooperation and international institutions in Central Asia;
  • Cultural and linguistic heritage in Central Asia.

The conference is open to practitioners, policy-makers, academia members, doctoral candidates and students. Authors interested in participating, are invited to send 200 words abstract in English detailing the title of their respective presentation, describing the topic importance and outlining key findings of their research.

Travel and accommodation expenses are not covered by the conference organisers.

The abstract should be sent in MS Word format to centralasia@mup.cz no later than 15 July 2016. The successful candidates will be notified by 1 August 2016.
