AGBU Heritage Scholar Grants 2016-2017

AGBU offers scholarships to one (1) to two (2) college-bound high school seniors graduating from each of the three AGBU high schools in the United States. Applicants must be seniors with a GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) and above at any of the following three AGBU high schools within the United States: AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School in Canoga Park, CA; AGBU Alex and Marie Manoogian School in Southfield, MI; AGBU Vatche & Tamar Manoukian High School in Pasadena, CA. Applicants must be admitted to a selective university and must be nominated for the grant by the principal and faculty of their respective high school.  This is a one-time grant, with awards ranging up to $2,000 USD.

Eligibility

Applicants will be approved for the grant based on the following criteria:
o Academic Excellence
o Financial Need
o Involvement in Community Service, with particular attention to their involvement in the Armenian community

Application Checklist

  • Completed application form
  • Two letters of recommendation:
  • Academic Reference: from your high school principal, advisor or teacher
  • Community Service Reference: describing prior public and community service with particular attention to your involvement in the Armenian community
  • Most current transcript of grades or report card
  • A copy of the acceptance letter from the university you plan to attend
  • Your current resumé
  • One passport-size photograph
Attention AGBU High School Principals: All nominations for Heritage Scholars must be submitted to the AGBU Education Department by May 1. Principals will be notified of decisions by May 15.
The awards will be distributed to the recipients after their graduation ceremonies.

Where to Submit

The deadline for returning a completed application to your high school principal is April 15.
